West Coast States Issue Unified Vaccine Recommendations

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

I shared in my last update that many constituents have contacted me with questions about how to get a COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the respiratory illness season. Patients and health care providers face confusion and chaos amid the Trump Administration's aggressive assault on the Centers for Disease Control.

Oregon is working with other states in the West Coast Health Alliance (WHCA) to provide clear, science-based vaccine recommendations amid the chaos in Washington, D.C. Today, the governors of Oregon, California, Washington, and Hawai'i announced unified vaccine recommendations for winter respiratory viruses including COVID-19, influenza, and RSV.

The WCHA recommendations are based on scientific data and informed by guidelines from trusted medical organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Academy of Family Physicians. The WCHA believes people in our states should have access to all clinically recommended vaccinations.

Our state remains committed to ensuring that health recommendations are guided by scientific data. Clear clinical guidance is essential for protecting public health as we approach the next respiratory illness season.

The WCHA vaccine recommendations can be found here. You can also click here to learn more about the West Coast Health Alliance.
