Brief Update

Dear Friends,

As you may know, the Special Session called by Governor Kotek to address transportation funding shortfalls is currently paused while Senator Chris Gorsek recovers from health complications. Cuts at the Oregon Department of Transportation have been pushed back until next month, and legislative proceedings in the Senate are set to resume on September 17th. I wish Senator Gorsek a smooth recovery and am grateful for our health care system that is providing him with high quality care.

Please know that I will not be accepting any per diem payment for days during this pause in the Special Session. In the meantime, I am planning an informational hearing in the Senate Healthcare Committee to take place at the end of this month on how HR 1 will impact Oregonians. The conversation will focus on how we can work together to protect access to healthcare and funding for healthcare providers. We must fight for the high-quality care that Oregonians expect and deserve.

I know this time of year is incredibly busy for families, with students returning back to school. September is also when preparations for the 2026 legislative session start to ramp up. Please stay tuned for more information coming soon.

Best regards,

Deb
