Dear Friends,
As many of you know, the Legislature will convene next Friday, August 29th for a special session to vote on Governor Kotek’s "scaled back" transportation funding proposal, which will cost taxpayers an estimated $5 billion over the next ten years.
The newly created Joint Committee on Transportation Funding will be meeting on Monday, August 25th at 3pm for a public hearing to go over Governor Kotek's proposed transportation package, which includes:

Gas Tax: Increase of $0.06 (15%) per gallon – increasing the total from $0.40 to $0.46. This is expected to raise roughly $150 million per year.
- Vehicle Registration Fees:
- $42 increase to the base registration fee.
- High-efficiency vehicles (40+ MPG) and electric vehicles will also see an additional $30 surcharge increase.

Title Fee: +$139 to the vehicle title fee (increasing from $77 to $216, roughly a 180% increase in the base title fee).

Payroll Tax: Doubled from 0.1% to 0.2% tax on wages.
- Grants ODOT the authority to raise some taxes and fees themselves going forward WITHOUT legislative approval.
I’ve heard from constituents loud and clear on this issue, telling me to just say NO to Governor Kotek's plan for new taxes and fees. Now is your chance to make sure Salem hears that same message—directly from you.
