Dear Friends,

Late Friday night around 11:30pm, the 2025 Legislative Session finally came to a close!.

The biggest news from the 2025 Legislative Session - Republicans stopped the largest tax bill in Oregon history from passing. That's right, HB 2025 - the $15B transportation tax bill died!

AND the eleventh hour Hail Mary attempt, HB 3402 which was a watered down version of HB 2025, but still had unnecessary taxes, also died!

It was one of the last bills to die on the House Floor on a procedural vote forced by Republicans.

The failure of these very flawed and UNNECESSARILY expensive transportation packages was a huge win for ALL Oregonians.

Unfortunately, this Session still closed with several poorly constructed policy bills passing along partisan lines, such as; unemployment benefits while striking for public employees (SB 916), off site prevailing wage for "bespoke" items on public works projects (HB 2688), and one of the multiple anti gun bills passed on the final day of session (SB 243).

The list of bad partisan bills is long and these are just some examples of what a super majority brings.

There were also bills that started out bad but passed in negotiated watered down versions such as the ag labor standards board (HB 2548).

A full, more complete list will be emailed out in the next week, summarizing more of the 4,000+ bills from the session.

BUT, for now, I'm going to catch up on a few hours of lost sleep.

Thank you for your support and engagement this session. It was a long and difficult 5+ months, but hearing from all of you about what mattered to you and how it affected your life is what makes the fight worth it!

As always, please reach out to my office with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

1
