Legislative Updates
Sine Die
Sine Die is imminent! The legislative session is quickly approaching its conclusion, with Sine Die — the official constitutional end of session — required by June 29th. As we make our final push to advance important policies, I’ll be preparing a full overview of the personal milestones and legislative achievements to be shared in upcoming newsletters.
In the meantime, here’s a brief snapshot of the bipartisan accomplishments we’ve achieved this session in the Senate Committee on Energy and Environment. It’s been an honor to Chair such a collaborative, progress-oriented committee, and I remain committed to working across party lines to deliver for the people we serve.

In The News
Oregon lawmakers approve limits on utility rate hikes
OPB, Monica Samayoa, June 25, 2025
“Oregonians are struggling with unpredictable, poorly explained utility rate hikes that strain family budgets,” Oregon State Senator Janeen Sollman, D-Washington County, said in a statement. “House Bill 3179, the FAIR Energy Act, fixes this by requiring real-world impact assessments before rate increases, banning winter hikes, and ensuring clearer billing — delivering the affordability, fairness, and transparency our constituents need."
FAIR Energy Act heads to Governor’s desk for signature
KEZI, News Staff, June 25, 2025
State Sen. Janeen Sollman highlighted the need for transparency, saying the act requires impact assessments before rate increases and clearer billing. This is crucial for Oregonians who face unpredictable rate hikes that strain budgets.

I want to take a moment to thank Team SD 15 for all of their amazing work this session to help advance district priorities and serve constituents. The board above represents all our policy wins this session - so much good work and good bills passed! The team will be taking a short break next week for some much deserved rest, but look for newsletters to continue in a couple of weeks with session highlights included.
Be good to yourself and each other. ❤
Onward & Upward,
Senate District 15 lies on Kalapuya land. The Atfalati were the northernmost band of the Kalapuya that lived along the Tualatin River in present day Washington County. Many of the Atfalati descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon today. The Indigenous Peoples of this land experienced a painful history of colonial violence, sickness and removal from their land. The Atfalati are the foundation of Oregon's past and we must honor them well into our future.
