Friends,
What a busy past few weeks! My team and I have been in Salem working on the beginning stages of getting our 2025 legislative agenda passed.
The first month of the 2025 Legislative Session has been full of meetings with constituents and stakeholders, committee meetings, and working on Oregon’s natural resource budget as the Co-Chair of the Joint Ways & Means Subcommittee on Natural Resources.
Check out what we’ve been up to below. We had the PNW Bleeding Disorders group come to the Capitol, we kicked off Arts & Culture Caucus for the year, and we are preparing for School Safety Day on March 3rd.
We are here to serve you- if any issues come up with your unemployment claim, your taxes, your Paid Leave Oregon claim, etc., please reach out and we will do what we can to get the issue fixed.
We have some upcoming Town Halls on the calendar. The first Town Hall is tomorrow at the new Redmond Library at 11 am. I hope to see you there!
Best,
Emerson

P.S. Happy Valentine’s Day, Central Oregon!

Arts & Culture Caucus- This week we attended the 2025 Arts & Culture Caucus Kick-Off Event, and we were treated to an amazing program curated by jazz artist, educator and Governor’s Arts Award recipient Darrell Grant. Darrell assembled an incredible array of artists and culture bearers from across the state – including Oregon’s own Grammy award-winning Esperanza Spalding! I am a proud member of the Arts & Culture Caucus- and I will be fighting hard to bring home arts funding to central Oregon!
Advocate of the Year Award- I am so honored to have received this award from the incredible Pacific Northwest Bleeding Disorders Organization. This organization has done so much advocacy work for those with rare diseases, and I am a proud partner in that work.

Make our School Safe Day- On Valentine’s Day seven years ago, 17 lives were lost at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, including Alyssa Alhadeff. In remembrance of the victims, I am proud to participate in Make Our Schools Safe Day today, and elevate Alyssa’s Law, the bipartisan legislation I brought forward that aims to improve law enforcement response time to a life-threatening emergency. We have our first Public Hearing on this bill in early March. Stay tuned on how to get involved!
