Wildfire Map Appeal Deadline is March 10th
Hello Friends,
For those who have impacted properties from the Wildfire Risk Map, the deadline to file your appeal is 5:00 pm, Monday, March 10th.
I want to preface this information with, I am opposed to these maps and their impacts to our property rights. I have been working with Senator Robinson, Representative Osborne, Representative Boice, Leaders Bonham and Drazan, Senator Golden, as well as other legislative colleagues, staff and concerned residents on repealing the wildfire maps and associated mandates to property owners. We were hopeful in having this repeal done prior to the appeal deadline, however we were not able to achieve this in the short amount of time.
The Oregon Wildfire Risk Explorer (Click Here for Link) is an interactive tool that will allow you to input your address to evaluate your properties "Low", "Moderate" or "High" designation, according to the flawed maps.
The Oregon Department of Forestry (Click Here for Link) has information on the appeal process and the link on how you may file your appeal electronically.
I cannot stress enough the need for impacted property owners to use the two links above to search your property and file an appeal.
As I stated above, we are working on fixing this disaster for impacted Oregonians, however it is important for everyone impacted to file their appeal incase our work on repealing the wildfire maps and associated mandates to Oregonians gets stalled and becomes a political football.
Thank you for all of your advocacy and work on this critical issue. We are grateful for your support.
Yours Truly,
 Senator David Brock Smith
