We are now a month into the 2025 Legislative Session. I am thankful that my constituents put me back in office for my second term. I will do everything I can to fight for you and your family and all our communities in District 2.
I have submitted 16 bills for this session and signed on to other bills as well. If you go to my website, www.oregonlegislature.gov/osborne, you can now see the list of bills I am Chief sponsor or Regular sponsor on.
The next 6 months will be extremely challenging. The democratic supermajority is intent on implementing tax increases, passing additional mandates that restrict individual freedoms, and advancing a multitude of policies that will continue to diminish Oregon’s effectiveness and increase its expense.
Yours truly,
Representative Virgle Osborne House District 2

State Representative Virgle Osborne with an update on what’s happening in the early days of this session of the Oregon State Legislature.
Oregon lawmakers push bill to fund immigrants' path to citizenship
While Reynolds claims bipartisan support, some Republican lawmakers strongly oppose the measure. Rep. Virgle Osborne, R-Roseburg, questioned the state's ability to fund the program. "We have homeless issues, we have drug issues and all these other issues," said Osborne. "We are taking this to give to a certain minority. I just disagree with that." Osborne suggested the legislation serves a political purpose: "I think our majority party is trying to harden our state from federal laws that are happening right now."
Oregon House Republicans lay out their legislative priorities
"Our current educational systems direction, which has been forced on our public schools, has placed the misguided interest and priorities of bureaucrats and ideologues ahead of learning, ahead of student success, ahead of student upward economic mobility, ahead of expanding opportunities and experiences, ahead of building a foundation of knowledge and skills for our children and build their future," said Wright. Wright said that Republicans have heard from parents and students who want to raise the cap on open enrollment, fully fund summer learning programs, expand career, technical, and educational opportunities, provide greater access and funding to charter schools, and provide greater safety for our students.
Many Southern Oregon residences have been placed into the wildfire urban interface zone.
We will be hosting a town hall to discuss this as well as what you can do to appeal the findings along with new legislation being proposed in Salem to repeal and/or revise this state law.
Will be held on February 15th from 4-6 p.m. at the Douglas County fairgrounds in the community conference hall.
Please join us and share with people and friends who may be affected by this state law.
