2025 Legislative Session Preview
Hello Friends,
It has been a busy few weeks in Salem! On January 13th, I was officially sworn in for my second term in the Oregon State Legislature. And on January 21st, the six-month-long legislative session officially began. I am grateful to have the opportunity to continue to serve House District 24.
A personal highlight: It was an honor to have my Dad with me on swearing in day!

Committee Assignments
This session, I have stepped into a new role as the Deputy Leader for the House Republican Caucus. I am also excited to continue to serve on the following committees:
- Vice-Chair – House Committee on Labor and Workplace Standards
- House Committee on Early Childhood and Human Services
- House Committee on Rules
- Joint Committee on Legislative Policy & Research
Presenting Our Session Priorities
Recently, I had the opportunity to share the Oregon House Republican priorities for the 2025 Legislative Session alongside Democratic House Speaker, Julie Fahey at the City Club of Eugene. It is clear that Oregonians want solutions on our biggest challenges - from homelessness, to housing, to cost of living, to our lagging education proficiency. I believe Oregonians will measure our success based on real results, not more bills passed or additional tax dollars spent.

Carlton Townhall
Last week, I held a townhall in Carlton! Thank you to everyone who attended. I appreciated the opportunity to provide a preview of the 2025 Legislative Session and answer so many thoughtful questions. Stay tuned for more townhall dates to come.

"City Day" At The State Capitol
I always love “City Day” at the State Capitol! House District 24 was well represented. Thank you to the City of McMinnville, the City of Yamhill, the City of Carlton, the City of Amity, and (not pictured) the City of Lafayette for stopping by! I enjoyed speaking with each city and hearing about their needs and goals for 2025.

Happening This Thursday - Story Night
Ladies - Don't miss our Story Night event this Thursday at The Grand Ballroom! I am excited to be sharing my story. View the flyer below for more information.
National Child Abuse Prevention Month
February is National Child Abuse Prevention Month. In honor of this, Juliette's House (Yamhill County's Child Advocacy Center) has invited the community to join them as volunteers for their "Celebrate the Children" annual fundraising event in April 2025.
If you would rather attend the event as a guest, details about tickets and the overall event are coming soon! Otherwise, please fill out this form if you would like to volunteer! Every hand helps in this important mission to prevent child abuse.
While I will have more policy updates for you in the coming weeks, I wanted to flag a few recent headlines about the "state" of our state:
Our schools aren’t producing outcomes for our kids. Every Oregon child deserves a quality education. Recent test scores show our schools continue to fail thousands of Oregon students. We urgently need more options for students and their families to succeed. House Republicans will fight to expand school choice, restore graduation requirements, preserve local control, and expand summer learning opportunities. Read more here.
Oregon is increasingly becoming unaffordable with our cost of living being 10% higher than the national average. Oregon has earned a reputation as one of the most anti-business states in America, and it’s costing Oregonians their jobs. This session, we are committed to lowering your taxes and making Oregon a more affordable place to live, work, and start a business. Read more here.
As always, my door is open. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any community event announcements, legislative questions, or concerns.
All my best,
Representative Lucetta Elmer House District 24
