I’ll be sharing updates on key bills that I’m passionate about for this session:

🔹 HB 2133 – Language Development for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children

This bill establishes a program to track language development in deaf and hard of hearing children from birth to age nine, ensuring that all children enter kindergarten with age-appropriate language skills.

🔹 HB 2134 – Early Lease Termination for Tenants

HB 2134 grants tenants the right to end their lease early without penalty if the landlord gives notice to terminate the lease, offering more flexibility and protection to renters.

🔹 HB 2069 – Tribal Consultation Task Force

This initiative extends our task force with the Governor’s office, which has been working since July 2024 to clarify and strengthen state agencies' requirements to engage in Tribal consultation, fostering better partnerships with Oregon’s Tribal communities.

🔹 HB 2233 – Legal Assistance for Incarcerated Oregonians

This bill provides legal services to incarcerated adults at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility, addressing barriers faced by those reentering society and helping reduce recidivism.

🔹 HB 3439 – Addressing Missing and Murdered Indigenous Relatives (MMIR)

Establishing an Office of MMIR, this bill seeks to enhance investigations, improve resources, and create a Missing Indigenous Person Alert system in collaboration with tribal communities.

Your input and involvement in shaping these policies are invaluable. Let’s come together to build a more inclusive, equitable, and just Oregon.

I look forward to seeing you there and continuing our work together.

Warmly,

Tawna Sanchez
