Friends,
Republicans are more determined than ever to fight for Rural Oregon and work tirelessly to bridge the Rural/Urban divide. As a Southern Oregon lawmaker, public servant, legislator, and policymaker, I’ve grown increasingly grateful for all I’ve learned and deeply aware of the privilege it is to represent my district and all of Oregon in Salem. That said, I recognize there’s still more for me to learn and achieve.
Having run for U.S. Congress in District 4 in 2018 and for Oregon Governor in 2022, and now with two years of experience in the State Legislature, my primary goal has always been to bring critical awareness to the fire dangers facing Oregon. The events of 2020 and 2024 have shown us just how much work remains. My journey has also included spending four days at the Republican National Convention in Wisconsin, three days at David Barton’s "Wall Builders" Pro-Family Convention in Texas, two days at the Arizona border, and countless hours drawing on my experience and background to advocate for the causes we hold dear.
As my team and I work hard to build relationships and friendships, I’m starting to feel a renewed sense of optimism that I haven’t experienced in years. While part of that optimism is tied to the results of the November election, it also stems from the opportunities ahead. Oregon faces significant challenges, but it also has incredible potential. With God’s will and the support of the citizens, I hope to continue serving for at least another six years, tackling problems and pursuing dreams that will make a difference for our state.

It was quite an honor and experience for our Lodge back in October of 1992. President Carter and his wife Rosalynn made the famous 3-day steelhead fishing trip down from Grants Pass and through the Rogue River Canyon Wilderness.
In 1968, Oregon's Rogue was one of the original eight Nationally Designated Wild Rivers in the United States. The Carter 12-member party including friends and Fishing Guides stayed at our Lodge their 2nd night and did pretty well catching the Zane Grey half-pounders! My father Allen, the famous Curry County Sheriff. 1964 thru 1976 as always was a most gracious host thus the proud photo. Myself and crew were working behind the scenes and frankly, I was still a bit unhappy with the former President for giving away the Panama Canal, so I decided not to get my picture with them. Besides, I hit it off well and spent time with the four dedicated Secret Service Agents.
However, we do cherish the Paradise Memory, and tremendously appreciate the wonderful and committed humanitarian Jimmy Carter truly was. We send our very best to his entire family and our great country during this sad time.
Serving on the House Agriculture, Water, Land Use, and Natural Resources Committee is such an important part of my role. Spending time in these meetings is crucial, and while I enjoy making friends and building relationships, I know my responsibility is to protect the interests of the people I represent and hold our state departments accountable. Today was a good day—informative as always. The Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife plays such a vital role for so many citizens in District 1, and I’m committed to ensuring their concerns are heard.

It was a pleasure to attend the final DTO Meeting of 2024. Timber is still King in this part of Oregon and my District.
My Grandfather Allen, Sr. was one of the longest serving County Commissioners in Oregon History at 18 years, 1930 to 1948. Good friend Doug Robertson shattered that record serving Douglas County for 32 years. He is now the Chief Executive Officer of Association of O & C Timber - 18 Oregon BLM Counties including Coos, Curry and Douglas. We are so lucky to have him fighting for our County Timber Revenues!
What a privilege to meet again with so many hard working and huge employers in my District including Allan Ford the owner of Roseburg Lumber Company. He employs 1,500 people throughout Oregon. It was an honor too to connect again with Doug Robertson. He was recognized with the DTO 'High Climber' Award - the difference he's made for Timber Dependent Computers. Doug also holds the record for consecutive years served as an Oregon Commissioner for 34 years.

We have four Lumber/plywood mills in my District. They support families employing almost 1,400 people, not to mention what they give back to our communities. What would our economy be without them? As Legislators, we have to do all we can to help sustain their success and positive impacts. Next time you see a 'Log Truck' on the highway, do your best to give them a wide berth. All are contributing to efforts that are helping our Schools, Public Safety and community services.
Our tribes contribute so very much to Oregon. I'm proud to serve on the Coquille Tribal Community Funding Board of Trustees. In the last 3 years - they've contributed almost 2 million in grants to our 5-county Region worthy applicants. Join us at the February 5th awards ceremony!" If you need more information, please contact my office.
I attended Jerry Pringle's Memorial Service in Medford recently. I've known him for almost 50 years. He was an incredibly accomplished River Guide, making over 300 4-day Steelhead fishing Trips through the Rogue Wilderness and the famous Wild River Canyon. We often forget the contributions our hard working fishing guides make to our culture, our economy and that wonderful way of life on the South Coast of Oregon.. Our guides, both Ocean and River deserve a great pat on the back.

Another super learning experience and a fortunate opportunity to work with our State and Federal Leaders. About 700 Oregonians attended and brainstormed on critical ways we can improve the business climate in Oregon. My good friend Representative Mark Owens, District 60 helped lead breakout sessions and did an excellent job!
We have companies leaving Oregon and as Policy Makers we have to remove the Tax and Regulatory burdens. The speakers challenged us as Legislators and Government Officials. Oregon needs a Business Renewal and we need to wave them in instead of waving them good-bye.

What a fabulous learning experience. An honor to be around such wonderful, patriotic, Family and Faith oriented people. Glenn Beck and all the speakers were powerful! Britt and I were given a scholarship, so were fortunate to only fund the Hotel/AirFare. We hope to return in 2025.

We had wonderful turnouts in both communities, and what an incredible honor it was! This marked my fifth consecutive year speaking at the Brookings tribute and my third year at Gold Beach. It’s inspiring to see more and more people stepping up to honor our great Veterans who sacrificed so much, while also teaching our kids this critically important history.
I want to recognize Don Bemis, Debbie Salzman, Gloria Eide, Suzie DeRico, Dr. Jessica Carlson, Sandy Welsch, George Michaels, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and so many other volunteers who gave their time and laid wreaths at the graves of our soldiers. Your dedication is deeply appreciated.

I was incredibly proud to attend the opening ceremony for the first phase of the long-overdue Vietnam Veterans Memorial. It was an honor to witness the Governor, two Senators, and my good friend, State Representative Rick Lewis, deliver such masterful speeches to honor our veterans. |
The memorial, located at the southwest corner of the three-block Capitol Campus, sits immediately adjacent to the World War II Memorial, which was completed five years ago. It’s a powerful and meaningful addition to our state’s commitment to remembering those who served. |

I really enjoyed this video. It's only 2 minutes. Learn about protecting our kids from evil during this month of January, which marks National Human Trafficking Prevention Month.
