Moving Forward

We are now past the recent election, and I would like to extend my congratulations to the legislative leaders in this district who won re-election:  Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (US House District 6), Rep. Paul Evans (Oregon House District 20), and Rep. Tom Andersen (Oregon House District 19).  I look forward to continuing to work with you.

Personally, like many of you, I was truly disappointed in the loss by Vice President Harris and Governor Walz in the presidential race.  However, I am committed to working with all to make this a county that works for everyone, and protecting the civil and human rights of every Oregonian.

There is much to do here in Oregon, as elsewhere across the nation, and my office is committed to continuing the work. This morning, after a year of working together, we completed the work of the Task Force on Hospital Discharge Challenges, with unanimous approval of the report which includes recommendations to help people move more smoothly through hospitals and into needed short-term or long-term care.

We must also work together to try to bring down the out-of-pocket cost of unaffordable pharmaceuticals for those who need them.  Healthcare is simply too expensive, and some needed services, such as behavioral healthcare, are still in short supply.  I’m joining with others through the National Conference of State Legislatures to explore options.

Recently, I’ve had a chance to visit one of our area high schools, and I look forward to visiting others in the area soon.  Support for our students in K-12 will be a top priority in the coming session, as will housing.

If you would like to learn more, please join Rep. Evans and me for a Town Hall next Monday, November 18th at 5:30 pm at the Monmouth City Hall, 151 Main Street W., Monmouth, OR 97361.  (See below.)  Hope to see you there!

Best regards,
Deb

Get help with Marketplace open enrollment

Open enrollment for private health insurance through the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace runs now through January 15. This is the period when Oregonians can enroll in health coverage or change their health plan.

To help people explore different health care options, the Oregon Health Insurance Marketplace has released its Window Shopping tool for the 2025 plan year. Oregonians can use this tool to compare plans, estimate savings, and find out if they qualify for financial assistance or an Oregon Health Plan Benefit, including OHP Bridge.

Visit OregonHealthCare.gov to preview 2025 plans or connect with expert help at no cost.
