Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope you all had a wonderful summer. We are on the cusp of the Labor Day weekend as summer begins to wind down and students prepare to return to their classrooms.
September 6th at 12:00 am brings us to the second blackout period in which legislators are prohibited from using public resources to communicate with constituents prior to the general election.
This month’s newsletter highlights what I have been up to in the district and beyond. It also provides information about the September legislative days, the revenue forecast, and more.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read my updates. I look forward to connecting with you again after the November 5th election. Until then, have a safe and happy Labor Day as we enjoy these last days of summer.
Sincerely,
|

Next week on August 28th, the House and Senate Interim Revenue Committees will meet to receive the September 2024 quarterly Economic and Revenue Forecast.
The Oregon Revenue Forecast opens the revenue forecasting process to public review. It is the basis for much of the budgeting in state government. Forecast reports are issued four times a year: March, June, September, and December. Click here to watch the forecast on OLIS here.
Additional information can be found on the Office of Economic Analysis webpage here.
Tune in for September Legislative Interim Committee and Task Force days. This is the second of three scheduled Legislative Interim Committee days to take place before the 2025 session. During these days, committees hold informational hearings on topics that could lead to legislation in upcoming session, hear updates on implementations of past legislation, and her reports from state agencies. You can access the legislative calendar for important dates here.
I continue to serve on the following Interim Committees:

In addition to my legislative committee assignments, I also serve on the following:
Oregon’s next long legislative session convenes in January 2025 and Friday, September 27th is our first deadline to submit unlimited bill draft requests to Legislative Counsel for pre-session filing.
On August 2nd, I was honored to attend the City of Molalla’s Police Department groundbreaking ceremony. The new station will be Molalla’s first dedicated police facility and will also function as an emergency operations center to coordinate public safety crisis response activities. This project has been many years in the making and involved support from the community and partners alike. The new station is expected to open in late 2025.
Homer Davenport Days in Silverton celebrated another great parade. The current mayor, three former mayors, and I gladly served as the parade poop-scoop crew.

On August 7th, United States Senator Ron Wyden’s town hall in Silverton gave me an opportunity to discuss several pressing issues for Oregon with his staff, including the need for federal funding to match State funding to build the new Veterans home in Roseburg. This project has been on hold for more than 10 years and the State allocated $35 million toward the facility to allow the federal government to contribute the $65 million needed to complete the project. Oregon is in desperate need of this additional home to serve our veteran population.
