Summer Learning at Intel Elementary School
This week, I had the fun opportunity to tour Imlay Elementary School in Hillsboro, alongside ODE Director Dr. Charlene Williams, Representative Susan McLain and Mayor Steve Callaway, where they highlighted the summer learning program. It was exciting to hear from former students, who have now become educators through the "Grow your Own" Program. The students in the classes were so engaged, they didn't let us bother their learning! Thank you to the fabulous educators and many partners that make this happen. See ODE's full press release on the visit below.
In Oregon, Summer Is Another Season For Learning
Orenco Station Sunday Market
Last Sunday was a wonderfully cool morning at the Orenco Station Sunday Market. I met up with good friends, found a new drink to try, and brought home goodies including fresh salad mix, pie for the hubby, and delicious gluten-free granola. Don't miss out on the opportunity to visit one of our local farmers' markets this summer and enjoy all the local bounty our area has to offer.
Washington County Fair
Last weekend, I enjoyed a fun night out with my husband at the Washington County Fair. I loved visiting all the animals, getting ice cream treats from the Washington County Dairy Women Ice Cream booth, and seeing all the smiles on people's faces. This year's fair was a success and I can't wait until next year.

Help Shape Oregon's Energy Strategy
Shared from the Oregon Department of Energy
ODOE is leading development of an Oregon Energy Strategy, and there are many opportunities this summer to learn about the project and contribute your ideas.
The Oregon Energy Strategy will outline potential pathways to shape an equitable clean energy transition that meets the diverse needs of Oregonians and considers a range of factors, including impacts to the environment, public health, affordability, the economy, and jobs.
There are multiple engagement opportunities this summer:
- Public Listening Sessions
-
Advisory Group Meetings: this appointed group will play a key role in developing the strategy over the next year. Their monthly meetings will be open to the public and may offer opportunities for public input.
-
Focus Area Working Groups: these meetings are open to the public and will cover specific focus areas to support development of the strategy. Participants will explore pathways to meeting our state’s energy policy objectives across the energy sector and consider opportunities and tradeoffs in areas including environmental justice, equity, affordability, land use, and natural resources.
Visit the Oregon Energy Strategy webpage for more information, and sign up to receive email updates for future opportunities to get involved!

Be good to yourself and each other. ❤
Onward & Upward,
Senate District 15 lies on Kalapuya land. The Atfalati were the northernmost band of the Kalapuya that lived along the Tualatin River in present day Washington County. Many of the Atfalati descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon today. The Indigenous Peoples of this land experienced a painful history of colonial violence, sickness and removal from their land. The Atfalati are the foundation of Oregon's past and we must honor them well into our future.
