Dear Friends and Neighbors,
I hope everyone had a great Independence Day. Even though it is the interim, my team and I are staying busy as we prepare for next year’s legislative session. In addition, I have been active around the district at community events.
CATT Groundbreaking Ceremony
I was honored to join my colleagues and other local leaders in breaking ground at Washington County's Center for Addictions Triage and Treatment (CATT) in Tanasbourne. There will also be a companion facility on Elam Young Parkway in Hillsboro. These locations will help those who are struggling to overcome addiction. They will add 86 new treatment beds while also providing essential sobering and detox services.
Juneteenth Celebration
Last month I volunteered at the Juneteenth Celebration in Orenco Station. The event was hosted by the Washington County Chamber’s Black Advisory Business Council. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate this holiday which commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans at the end of the Civil War.

As we anticipate warming weather throughout the summer, it is important to be aware of your nearest county operated cooling shelters. If experiencing extreme heat in the coming months, Washington County maintains five cooling centers with hours that extend into the evening and two 24-hour, no-turn-away shelters in Beaverton and Hillsboro. See StayCoolWashingtonCounty.com for details.
