Celebrating Fourth of July

image says: Happy fourth of july; please enjoy the holiday safely

There is a ban on personal fireworks in Portland. If you would like to see fireworks on the 4th of July, please see Don't take the risk - attend professional fireworks show from the City of Portland.

Please do not call 911 unless there is a fire. Call the Portland Fire & Rescue Arson Information Line to report the use of illegal fireworks in the city at (503) 823-3473.

Keeping your Furry Friend Safe

Dove Lewis has created this guide for keeping your pets safe for 4th of July. The Oregon Humane Society has also put together a Fourth of July pet safety guide that includes information on what to do if your pet is lost this holiday.

Remember that with extreme heat, your pets are also vulnerable. The American Kennel Club has  this guide for the signs and symptoms of overheating in dogs. Multnomah County has put together this guide on keeping pets cool in hot weather.

Lastly, Portland Nursery’s Watering During a Heatwave has good information on how to keep your plants safe during extreme heat events.

I hope you find these resources helpful. Stay cool and stay safe!

Best,

Rep. Nelson
