During the legislative interim, the State Representative job continues. Interim is the time when state legislators are not in Session in Salem at the Capitol amending and voting on bills. A majority of my interim work involves responding to constituent requests for help, meeting with people and groups in-district, attending facility tours, community events, and policy conferences with other state legislators, as well as working on specific legislation for the upcoming Session that begins in January 2025.
Another vital role state legislators serve is being actively focused on new policy being considered. This is done by writing letters of testimony — either lending support, or opposition depending on the topic. During the past few months I have written letters, and signed onto letters with other legislators, covering a diverse range of topics. I believe it is important to keep you updated on how I am working in the best interest for the people of Oregon and specifically House District 55.
