Legislative Updates
The Legislative Short Session ended last week. Our Legislative Policy Research Office created the graphic below which shows that in just five short weeks, 115 bills were passed, 352 public hearings were held and 14,143 pieces of written testimony were submitted! Thank you to all who lent your voice to the process and weighed in on the issues that matter most to you. I am always appreciative to hear from my constituents and look forward to further conversations as we move into the Interim and prepare for next year.
In 2024, we worked to turn Oregon’s shared problems into shared solutions, taking action on the most urgent issues impacting all Oregonians. We focused on reducing homelessness, increasing affordable housing, improving public health and safety, and strengthening our schools and the economy.
Some accomplishments I’m most excited about for our community include:
STRONG SCHOOLS, STRONG ECONOMY

Oregon Health Authority Updates
Oregon introduces new climate-related resources for some OHP members experiencing life transitions, health needs
Shared from Oregon Health Authority
Oregon Health Plan (OHP) members with a medical need and who are facing certain life changes may now qualify for new climate-related benefits.
Eligible OHP members may qualify for a new benefit to receive devices. The devices help keep people safe during climate events. These include:
- Air conditioners, heaters, and air filters to provide clean air and healthy temperatures
- Mini fridges to keep medication cold during a power outage
- Portable power supplies to operate medical devices like ventilators during a power outage
OHP members interested in receiving climate devices should contact their coordinated care organization (CCO) to learn more. If an OHP member is not sure which CCO they are in, they can call the OHA Client Services Unit at 1-800-273-0557.

The cities of Hillsboro and Cornelius have teamed up with Energy Trust of Oregon and Solar Oregon for a Solarize campaign to make it easy and more affordable for homeowners to install solar or solar plus battery storage. Any homeowner with a Hillsboro or Cornelius address is eligible to participate. Just request a bid between March 1 and April 30 – your solar installation can be completed any time through Dec. 31, 2024.

Onward & Upward,
Senate District 15 lies on Kalapuya land. The Atfalati were the northernmost band of the Kalapuya that lived along the Tualatin River in present day Washington County. Many of the Atfalati descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon today. The Indigenous Peoples of this land experienced a painful history of colonial violence, sickness and removal from their land. The Atfalati are the foundation of Oregon's past and we must honor them well into our future.
