Senate District 15 - Small Business Spotlight

Five Starts Family Burger - Cornelius

The Best Burger in Oregon, ranking top 6 in U.S. according to Yelp

Image

In 2015, David Yim, originally opened Five Stars Family Burgers as a food truck in Forest Grove. It's an old-fashioned burger place with small bits of Korean twist, now located in Cornelius. This past month, Yelp.com awarded Five Stars the best burger in Oregon for the second year in a row and the 6th best burger in the country! The Yim's often cook with bulgogi, thin slices of sirloin or other prime cuts of beef, which takes months to a year to marinate to perfection in the family's secret sauce. Both David and his son Goldstar, who now owns the family business, hope to one day serve the best burger in the world. Congratulations to David and his family for this amazing award! It's amazing to see a small business in our community flourish and gain the recognition they deserve.

Five Stars Family Burger is open Monday through Saturday 11AM - 5PM and located at 1284 E Baseline St, Cornelius, OR 97113. Please note, with the sudden influx of customers from the news, they have been selling out much earlier than usual. The owners ask that customers call ahead at (503) 863-8740.

Senate District 15 lies on Kalapuya land. The Atfalati were the northernmost band of the Kalapuya that lived along the Tualatin River in present day Washington County. Many of the Atfalati descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon today. The Indigenous Peoples of this land experienced a painful history of colonial violence, sickness and removal from their land. The Atfalati are the foundation of Oregon's past and we must honor them well into our future.
