Obrien Creek – Hwy 101 –
From Coos Forest Protective Association Director Mike Robison:
The O’Brien Creek Fire remains in the same footprint as what I reported out last night. This keeps the fire at approximately 25 acres. Crews worked through the night and day shift crews are working to complete all dozer/handlines and hose lays. The ground is challenging, and we expect all lines to be completed and water to all portions of the fire by end of shift today (1900). We still have several more hours for today’s burn period in front of us and yet the fire suppression work is making good progress. We continue to utilize resources from the Flat Fire and structure resources from Curry County. This fire has burned near several homes. We continue to have the structure resources with us to assure the fire is out and the structures are safe. Containment at this point is 25%.
With good progress being made, night shift will be less robust than last night. CFPA resources and structure resources will continue the work until relieved by day shift tomorrow. As we move forward, we plan to have at least two more fully staffed day shifts to assure this fire is off the landscape. We need to complete the work and get prepared for next week’s weather which is going to be hot, dry, and windy.
