I am hoping you will be able to join myself, the Sutherlin Emergency Management Division, and others, for the first annual Sutherlin Community Preparedness Festival on June 15.
I have been given the honor to speak on the topic of preparedness in the face of an emergency. As many of you know, I have been a member of the Douglas County Search and Rescue team for nearly 20 years, involved in countless search and rescue operations. I was also heavily involved in the evacuation efforts during the 2020 Archie Creek Fire. I am glad that I will be able to share my experience.
Sutherlin Mayor Michelle Sumner will also be speaking at the fair to give her experience and expertise in law enforcement, planning, and fire rescue.
The fair will take place at the Sutherlin Central Park from 1-5pm.
Live music and local food will also be available to enjoy.
