Dear Friends and Neighbors,
We had a very busy week here in Salem. Here's what transpired:
My colleagues and I spent over six hours each day this week discussing a wide array of legislation on the floor of the House. The bills included HB3443A to expand protections for the victims of bias crimes, HB2057A to crack down on wage theft in the construction industry, and HB3471A to prohibit an employer from insisting on a “no re-hire" agreement as part of a workers compensation settlement.
To help lessen some of the tension, we were joined by our giant fluffy friend, Teddy, for moral support during these long floor sessions. He did such a great job that he earned a spot on the House's honorable Wall of Past Speakers!
I was honored to extend a courtesy on the House floor to the Hillsboro Hops’ new manager - Ronnie Gajownik! Congratulations to her on making history as the first woman to manage a high-level Single-A baseball team. She’s led the team to a phenomenal start to the season. Go Hops!
