Dear Friends,
In response to the tragic events in Nashville earlier this week, the House Republican Office introduced the Safe Schools Package, which includes a piece of legislation I introduced earlier this session, HB 2704.
Unfortunately, the majority of the bills listed in the Safe Schools Package did not receive any public hearings and were not scheduled for a work session prior to the March 17th deadline.
Today, the House Republican Caucus requested five bills in the Safe Schools Package to be pulled from their assigned committees for a vote on the House Floor. Each of the five bills failed to be removed from committee as they did not receive the majority vote.
I am disappointed that partisan politics is being put first, instead of the safety of our children.
Please take time to watch my remonstrance on the House Floor today, and please watch this news interview with House Republican Leader Vikki Breese-Iverson, and Deputy Leader Shelly Boshart Davis.
Sincerely,
Anna Scharf State Representative - HD 23
