Committee Meetings in Review

• House Committee on Higher Education: we held a work session on HB 2263 to establish a Task Force on Student Housing that would examine 
  student housing availability and funding in higher education and also explore the challenge of childcare that parents experience while going to college. We also worked on HB 3561, which would expand grant and scholarship opportunities to those enrolled in programs to provide early childhood behavioral health and mental health services. 
  
• House Committee on Business and Labor: we passed HB 2057, which broadens liability for wage theft in the construction industry. We also held a work session on HB 3471, prohibiting employers from requiring a “no -rehire” provision as part of a workers compensation settlement.
• Joint Commitee on Ways and Means Subcommittee on Transportation and Economic Development: we heard a multi-day presentation from the Department of Consumer and Business Services.

Puppy Day at the Capitol!

Thursday was “Puppy Day at the Capitol!” I teamed up with Rep. Kevin Mannix to bring some adorable puppies to the building. Legislators, staff, analysts, and others gathered together to pet and hold our little furry friends during the lunch hour. It was an amazing experience! Our sincere thanks to TrixiePups for providing the puppies.

Small Business in the Spotlight

A big congratulations to Hillsboro’s Next Level Pinball Shop & Museum for winning the TWIPY Pinball Award for the best location to play pinball in the world. Next Level beat out arcades in cities such as Chicago, Houston, and Sao Paulo. Next Level boasts 238 pinball machines and over 200 other arcade games. It’s a great place to enjoy arcade games and I’m happy to have them in District 30.

Constituent Coffee Reminder
