Rep. Wright enjoyed a recent visit from the Rhododendron Court.

Eight of the court members are from Siuslaw and Prince Tristan and Prince Caleb are from Mapleton.

The Florence Rhododendron Festival will be May 19 to 21, 2023, with a theme of “Rip Roarin' Rhodies.” This year, the Rhododendron Court Coronation will be held Saturday, May 13.

Oregon Legislative Information System

As always, I encourage all my constituents to follow your legislature and to be informed of what goes on every day. You can watch committee hearings and floor proceedings. You can track bills and be notified when they are up for a hearing. I encourage you to visit www.olis.oregonlegislature.gov and spend some time getting to know it. I have attached links that bring you directly to the tutorial video's on each of the "How To" lines below.


Bills to watch: Check them out and let Rep. Wright know what you think. 

HB 3442: Relating to land use planning for affordable housing; declaring an emergency. Requires local governments to allow development of certain affordable housing on certain lands within 100-year floodplain or subject to property development constraints under land use regulations related to natural disasters and hazards. Declares emergency, effective on passage. 

Many amendments for HB 3442 will be coming to help clarify intent. 

HB 3198Relating to early literacy; declaring an emergency.  Establishes Early Literacy Success Initiative. Prescribes purposes and requirements under initiative. Authorizes Department of Education to use moneys from Statewide Education Initiatives Account for Early Literacy Success Initiative. Repeals Oregon Early Reading Program and Early Success Reading Initiative. Declares emergency, effective on passage.

HB 3454Relating to early literacy; declaring an emergency. Directs Department of Education to award grants to improve early literacy in state. Prescribes purposes of grants, applicants that are eligible to apply for grants, grant application requirements and calculations of grants. Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2023.
