Recap of the Last Two Weeks

Friends,

Things have been moving quickly here in the Oregon Legislature. With the House of Representatives meeting daily for floor sessions we have been sending many bills to our Senate counterparts.

Here's a recap of the last two weeks:

Notable Bills that were Passed by the House of Representatives:

  • HB 2395 - Opioid Harm Reduction Package
  • HB 2915 - Prohibits Retail Stores from Selling Dogs and Cats
  • HB 2001 - Housing and Homelessness Bill
  • HB 5019 - Appropriates $200 million to fund the housing bill

Oregon Supreme Court Tour

Last week my team and I toured the Oregon Supreme Court. From our two amazing tour guides we learned about the rich history of the building and its relationship. We also were able to talk with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Meagan Flynn!

Bills of Concern/Bills to Watch

  • HB 3152 - Prohibits natural gas incentives and subsidies
  • HB 3214 - Prohibits traveling animal acts. While this looks good on the surface, this will adversely affect ethical businesses that utilize animal ambassadors.

Looking Ahead

There is word going around that a gun control omnibus bill is in the works. It will combine multiple separate gun control bills into a single bill.

I will oppose any attempt by my colleagues across the aisle to restrict law-abiding gun owner from exerting their Second Amendment right.

With more than three months left in the legislative session, I anticipate there will be many more bills of concern.

Thank you,

Representative Virgle Osborne
