Dear Friends,

Here is some information and highlights from the past few weeks. I hope this update is helpful to you as we wrap up the ninth week of session...only 101 days left, but who's counting! As always, thank you for your continued support. Please contact my office with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

HB 3214 makes it illegal to use certain animals in traveling acts, which will essentially ban rodeos, 4H shows, and fairs! HB 3214 received a public hearing March 16th in the House Committee on Judiciary. I encourage you to submit your opposition online, which can be submitted until the 18th.

HB 2002 is scheduled for a public hearing on March 20th in the House Committee on Behavioral Health and Health Care. This bill has several concerning components, which I am extremely opposed to, including the following...

HB 2002 would remove a parent’s role in their child’s life by:

  • Eliminating any age of consent requirements for “reproductive health care”, including abortion.
  • Requiring written permission from a child of any age in order for a parent to know what reproductive health services are provided by a health care provider.
  • Authorizing a pharmacist to provide abortion pills without regard to the age of the person.

Submit your opposition here.

Earlier this week, HB 2001 and HB 5019, known as the Affordable Housing and Emergency Homelessness Response Package, passed on the House Floor. While these bills do tackle some of the state's housing and affordable housing crisis, there is concern this package doesn't address Ballot Measure 110, which is at the heart of the homeless crisis.
