JANUARY 20, 2023 NEWSLETTER

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The first week of the 2023 legislative session was action-packed with committee meetings beginning and the first-floor sessions taking place. It is great to be back in Salem!

This Week in a Snapshot:

  • House Committee on Higher Education: we received vital information pertaining to underrepresented students in higher education, how benefits navigators are helping incoming students who need support, and the struggles our students are facing as a result of the pandemic.
  • House Committee on Business and Labor: we discussed proposed legislation that would require data brokers to register with the State of Oregon.
  • Joint Committee on Semiconductors: we were briefed on the current state of Oregon’s semiconductor industry and the opportunity we must dramatically grow our state’s economy by investing in the technology sector.
