Joint Task Force on Universal Health Care

The Joint Task Force on Universal Health Care, established by Senate Bill 770 in the 2019 legislative session, is nearing the end of its work to present a plan for transition to a system of universal health care in Oregon. Throughout the summer, the task force has conducted meetings targeted around the state to hear from Oregonians, employers, health care systems, providers, insurers, and more in order to refine its proposal to improve health care cost and access for all.

I am deeply proud of the work done by all members of the task force, and grateful for the input and care demonstrated by all involved. The final recommendation for a Health Care for All Oregon Plan will be submitted no later than September of this year, and I will look forward to bringing legislation in the 2023 session to set that plan in motion. It’s time for all Oregonians to be able to access quality, appropriate, and affordable health care.

Senator James I. Manning Jr represents North Eugene, West Eugene, Santa Clara, and Junction City in the Oregon State Senate.
