Legislative Updates
Economic and Revenue Forecast
Yesterday, the Senate Committee on Finance and Revenue met jointly with the House Committee on Revenue to hear the September Economic and Revenue Forecast. As a member of the Senate Finance and Revenue Committee, I participated in the meeting, which can be viewed here.
Oregon’s economy is running strong. The market is stabilizing. The legislature's future budgets should continue to reflect our success – standing up for low- and middle-income Oregonians. We must continue to work to drive down costs for everyday Oregonians, that means building on our investments in housing and health care affordability. Thanks to the responsible and fiscally smart leadership of Oregon Democrats, we are prepared to lead into the future with the largest budget reserves in Oregon state history.

Environmental Updates
Reusable Containers Roundtable Discussion
Last week, I cohosted a reusable containers roundtable discussion. In the upcoming 2023 session, I am looking into ways that Oregon can incorporate reusable containers in grocery stores and was excited to have small businesses share their point of view with the Oregon Department of Ag, DEQ and interested consumers. Reuse is smart and practical. Watch a playback of the event here or by clicking on the picture below.
Out and About in Senate District 15
TITAN Freight Systems Tour
Yesterday, I enjoyed visiting Titan Freight Systems in Southeast Portland for a tour. TITAN has adopted renewable fuels for their entire fleet, and wants to help the state phase out petroleum diesel which will aid in reducing emissions, preserving our snowpack and growing our economy. They have seen the proven benefits from using renewable diesel in their own fleet. I also had the opportunity to drive a renewable diesel-powered truck outfitted with triple-trailers from the safety of the TITAN lot. It was a thrilling experience!
American Family Care - Grand Opening Celebration
Yesterday, I was excited to visit the new American Family Care Urgent Care Clinic in Hillsboro. Located on TV Hwy, across from Shute Park, this will be a great addition to Hillsboro.
18th Annual Back to School Event at M&M Marketplace
¡Comunidad! Saturday was a beautiful day of happiness and relief for many families at M&M Marketplace. I was proud to help out at their 18th Annual Back to School Event. The festive music, performances, delicious food, prizes and school supplies brought so many families out for this well-organized event.
Adelante Mujeres - Fiesta of Hope
This past Saturday evening was a beautiful night to celebrate Adelante Mujeres at their Festival of Hope. This event brought community together to explore and learn about Guatemalan culture, tour their beautiful facilities and see the presentation of the Latina Leadership Award. I was especially impressed to learn about their Early Childhood Education program, a bilingual program that teaches early literacy skills and builds kindergarten readiness among Latino immigrant preschool aged children of women participating in their Adult Education program. They currently operate 7 ECE classrooms that include certified preschool and head start programs. Other exciting programs include the Empresas Small Business Development program and the Chicas Youth program. Follow the links to learn more about the amazing work and community building being done at Adelante Mujeres.
Orenco Farmers Market
The beauty of our Orenco Sunday Hillsboro Farmers Market was on full display this past weekend. Colorful crops, delicious freshness and a special bonus when you get to see good friends! I was also thrilled to find shampoo and conditioner bars, an alternative way to buy shampoo without the bottle and reduce plastic waste.

Onward & Upward,
Senate District 15 lies on Kalapuya land. The Atfalati were the northernmost band of the Kalapuya that lived along the Tualatin River in present day Washington County. Many of the Atfalati descendants are members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde Community of Oregon today. The Indigenous Peoples of this land experienced a painful history of colonial violence, sickness and removal from their land. The Atfalati are the foundation of Oregon’s past and we must honor them well into our future.
