Did you know?!

I recently took a tour of the Salem Health facilities with Marion County Commissioner Danielle Bethell. Did you know Salem Health’s CHEC (Community Health Education Center) is open to all members of the public? While CHEC classes (Yoga, childbirth prep, infant CPR, pre-natal) are popular and often free, the CHEC also has a library of resources for anyone wanting to live a healthier life. Visit the library in person to check out cookbooks and other resources or do an online search.  The “CHEC Yourself” podcast covers a wide variety of subjects, from nutrition and fitness to emotional resiliency. A library of episodes can be found online at https://checyourself.podbean.com/.

In addition, the CHEC works with our community partners to provide free diabetes screening, information on education and follow-up. There is a comprehensive list of community-based support groups and other resources on the CHEC’s website. If you’re interested in staying up to date with new classes and events, sign up for the CHEC’s newsletter online.

Capitol Tour

I recently had the privilege of speaking with a large student group from Veritas School who toured the Capitol.

Touring the Capitol is a great experience for students and is available for schools and individuals.

You too can tour the Capitol starting mid-June to the end of September. Visit this website for more information or call 503-986-1388.

My office can always help you arrange a tour if needed!
