If you’d like to debrief on the recent legislative session at more length than can fit in a newsletter, or let me know what you thought about it, please join us for my first in-person Town Hall in what seems like a very long time.
Tuesday, April 5, 7:00-8:15pm Medford Main Library Adams Conference Room 205 South Central, Medford
The written report on what we did in the short session is in my March 7 newsletter, here.
Just a quick note this week to let you know this newsletter won’t be hitting your inbox over the next two months. We’re about to enter what’s known as the “blackout” period for legislators running, as I am, in the May 17 primary election. For a 60-day window before any primary or general election, no official up for election is allowed to use any state resources to communicate with potential voters. That includes legislative newsletters, which are processed through a state IT system.
That’s fair. If I were challenging an incumbent for this office, I wouldn’t be thrilled to know that he or she was talking to voters through an official state channel in the weeks leading up to election day. Incumbents have enough electoral advantage as it is.
So look for the next newsletter installment in the last week of May. I’m guessing that enough will happen in the meantime to fill it two or three times over.
Best to you until then—
Senator Jeff Golden, Oregon Senate District 3
