Rep. Mark Owens

Friends,

Yesterday, we shared with you some of the exceptional students in House District 60 and today, we're spotlighting more young leaders from around the district. I am inspired by the leadership, determination, diversity of interests and big successes these students display in their commitment to their futures.

Enjoy reading about these outstanding students and share with others in your communities.

We know there are MANY amazing students and youth in our district. Do you have a student or students you want to nominate? Send my Chief of Staff Stacy an email at stacy.cayce@oregonlegislature.gov and we will add you to our Summer Series.

To our students, we all wish you the very best and cannot wait to see what is ahead for each of you.

Thank you,

Mark Owens

Emrie Osborn, Senior
Baker High School, Baker County

Emrie participates in Baker’s High School Child Development Associate Credential Program. The Child Development Associate Credential  is the most widely recognized credential in early childhood education. Earning a CDA credential in high school jump starts a successful career in early childhood education.

Through the program, Emrie is able to earn college credit while still in high school and leave high school job-ready with a nationally-recognized credential. Part of earning the credential is spending 480 practicum hours in the correct setting, so Emrie works on her credential in a Head Start classroom at the Baker Early Learning Center.

She is the first student in Baker’s High School CDA Program locally, paving the way for other Baker students to take part in this opportunity.
