A Successful Session on Redistricting

Last month, the Legislature passed new legislative maps for the second time in a row, and only the third time in Oregon’s history. Redistricting is a once in a decade process that ensures our political districts are fair and representative, which helps our communities get access to the resources and political representation they need to thrive.

I am grateful for the work of my colleagues on the Senate Committee on Redistricting, and for the engagement of Oregonians, thousands of whom weighed in on this process from across the state. This was a moment for valuable collaboration, and though I will miss the honor of serving my neighbors in Junction City, I look forward to the pleasure of representing both existing and joining members of the Senate District 7 community.

For a more in-depth understanding of this year’s redistricting process, I recommend reading Representative Andrea Salinas’s newsletter on the special session and this op-ed by Representative Salinas and Senator Taylor in The Oregonian. You can also find the House and Senate Democrats press release on redistricting here. See below for our district's legislative and congressional maps.

Oregon Congressional Districts

Oregon gained a sixth congressional district this year. Our region continues to be part of Congressional District 4 (marked by the black circle), represented by Rep. Peter DeFazio.
