Friends, this newsletter will focus on redistricting and concentrate on “House District 15” proposals – and is time sensitive! To view further information on how to look at the interactive maps with more detail, and how to sign up to testify live or provide written testimony, please scroll to the bottom of this newsletter. The first opportunity is tomorrow morning, Thursday, at 8am. If you take a look at these maps of proposed district lines, and you agree or disagree with how the lines are drawn, I invite you to share those thoughts with the committee. The time is now to have your voice heard.
CURRENT MAP OF HOUSE DISTRICT 15
For reference, here is the current map.
PROPOSED PLAN A: Senate Democrats
- Splits Tangent from Albany
- Adds part of south Salem
- Crosses the Willamette River to the north
- Adds small community of Jefferson (Marion County) to a Linn County-centric district
- Separates more of Linn County from its county seat (Albany)
- Now includes parts of three counties (Marion, Linn and Benton) when current district includes Linn County and a small portion of Benton County (because of North Albany)
PROPOSED PLAN B: House Republicans
- Least changes made; accounts for population growth relative to state population growth
- Keeps communities together – Tangent, Albany, and Millersburg
PROPOSED PLAN C: House Democrats
- Splits Millersburg from Albany
- Adds area outside of northern Corvallis city limits
- Cuts out area to the east of Albany and slices up Greater Albany School District. This area identifies as Albany and has Albany addresses.

The statewide redistricting tour planned for September is moving to a virtual format. Members of the public are invited to participate during one of the following virtual hearings to provide feedback on the proposed maps created by the House and Senate Interim Redistricting Committees. They are available now.
The best way to view maps are through this interactive site. Once opened, you will see an Oregon map with county outlines.
Click on the "Show Contents of Map" button on the left (the list icon under ‘Details’ tab).
Click the drop-down arrow (not the check mark) to the left of "Committee Proposals."
Plan A: Senate Democrats
Plan B: House Republicans
Plan C: House Democrats
You can click on any of these to view the plans. You’ll see gray and pink lines – gray is county, pink is district lines.
It might be helpful to view county, city, or school district boundaries – or current House/Senate lines – these can all be viewed under the “Oregon Reference Layers." You can zoom in to see areas that are interesting to you. I encourage you to zoom into where you live, look at your community, and let the committee know your thoughts.
You can also view the maps in PDF format from the committee meeting materials on OLIS, located here.
