Your District – Your Voice and Redistricting
On Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at 6:30 PM at the Salem Elks Lodge - 2336 Turner Rd SE, 97302, I will be hosting a Your District – Your Voice listening session. The topic will be redistricting, how to participate and its importance to you and our state.
Redistricting is a once-a-decade process constitutionally required of the Legislature. We are tasked with redrawing Congressional, State Senate, and State House district boundaries to account for changes in population. Oregon will gain a sixth Congressional seat, giving Oregon more representation in the US Congress.
The redistricting process itself is monumental and historical. We have the opportunity for a better Oregon, and we have a path to achieve that. The House Committee is made up of three Republicans and three Democrats. Undeniably, this is good, fair and balanced representation for the communities we serve.
Your input and public testimony are essential to the process of drawing these lines. On Friday the 10th of September from 9-noon The Redistricting Committees will be in Salem to hear your thoughts and opinions on redistricting.
If you’ll be attending the September 8th Your District – Your Voice please let us know, email: rep.raquelmooregreen@oregonlegislature.gov, I hope to see you then! In the interim to learn more about redistricting, visit www.OregonLegislature.gov/redistricting.
