REDISTRICTING ROADSHOW:
Feedback Requested
The Redistricting Committees will be hitting the road in September. This is the current DRAFT of the locations that will be visited. As co-chair of the committee, I would love your feedback.
Redistricting is a once-a-decade process constitutionally required of the Legislature. We are tasked with redrawing Congressional, State Senate and State House district boundaries to account for changes in population. Oregon will gain a sixth Congressional seat, giving Oregon more representation in the US Congress.
The redistricting process itself is monumental and historical. We have the opportunity for a better Oregon, and we have a path to achieve that. The House Committee is made up of three Republicans and three Democrats. Undeniably, this is good, fair and balanced representation for the communities we serve. Your input and public testimony are essential to the process of drawing these lines.
National redistricting experts have listed our state as high risk of gerrymandering. I believe this committee can prove them wrong by holding the most fair and transparent redistricting process following the Constitution and Oregon Statute. It is important each Oregonian has equal representation. I can’t stress enough the importance of speaking up and lending your voice to the next round of hearings in September.

This website will have updated locations, dates and times. Please mark your calendars.

WATER SAFETY INFORMATION
FROM LINN COUNTY SHERIFF:
As summer rolls on and more hot weather is forecasted, we wanted to share some swimming safety tips to keep every safe out there!
- DO NOT Swim Alone!
Make a rule that nobody swims alone. Even strong swimmers need to have someone out with them in case something happens.
- Make Sure Kids are Supervised!
While heading to the pool, lake or river can be a fun and relaxing time for family and friends it is very important to stay alert when children are in the water. Parents should always be within arm’s reach of young children. Older children who are experienced swimmers should still be monitored while in the water. They may try to flip or dive into the water, which can be dangerous. The water drops in temperature drastically within only a few feet and can cause someone to gasp when they reach those temps unexpectedly.
- Wear Life Vests When Needed
If you’re doing activities on the open water such as boating, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing, children under 12 MUST wear a Coast Guard-certified life jacket. Life jackets are required to be accessible to everyone else on any of these vessels. Young and inexperienced swimmers should also wear an approved life jacket whenever they are around water. Water wings, floaties, kickboards, or other floats aren’t a substitute and should only be used when a parent or trustworthy adult is within arm’s reach of the child.
- Don’t Swallow Water
Another one of the water safety tips you should follow this summer is to not swallow water. While small accidents can happen when swimming, avoid swallowing water in any environment (pool, river, lake). According to the CDC, just one mouthful of water containing certain germs can make you sick for up to 3 weeks.

NOT FAKE NEWS - FAKE MONEY!
FROM ALBANY POLICE DEPT:
PSA for retailers...It's that time where counterfeit money is going around again 💸. APD has taken several fraud reports, with no viable suspects. Majority of the counterfeit money seized in the last couple of weeks have the listed serial number printed on it. Also, the White House has a different name and so does the president pictured. Don't take these as legit $20 bills. Call us to report it if you have one or some and that way we can follow up on a possible suspect. Yes, we also know that some of you may have gotten these bills as change...(and not be a suspect)!

What is Coffee with a Cop? Uh.....it is just coffee with a local cop. No agenda. No talking points.
The whole idea is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve. Stop by, grab a cup of coffee, ask that burning question or just say hi at The Brim Coffee at their new location downtown! See you then!
