TODAY’S CORONAVIRUS AND CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE UPDATE

  • New COVID Cases: OHA reports 247 new COVID cases today.  The cumulative number of cases in Oregon since the beginning of the pandemic is 205,698.
  • Variant COVID Cases: Here are the newly-released cumulative case counts for the COVID variants in Oregon: 1,433 (up from 1,240) cases of the B.1.1.7 (UK) variant, 286 cases (up from 200) of the P.1 (Brazilian) variant, and 125 (up from 108) cases of the B.1.351 (South African) variant.  In addition, we are now seeing 291 (up from 279) cases of the B.1.427 variant, 737 (up from 716) of the B.1.429 variant, and 10 cases of the new B.1.617.2 (Delta).  OHA is now producing a Variant Dashboard, providing current variant case numbers for the state as a whole and for various parts of the state.  It’s updated each Wednesday.
  • Positive Test Results: OHA reported 271 positive tests today. The cumulative total of positive test results since the beginning of the pandemic is now 298,010 298,281.
  • Total Tests: OHA reported an additional 10,625 tests today. Our cumulative total of reported tests is 5,288,743.
  • Positivity Rate: The test positivity ratio for Oregon today is 2.9%.
  • Hospitalization Information:
    • Patients Currently with Confirmed COVID-19: 162 (10 fewer than yesterday)
    • ICU Patients Confirmed w COVID-19: 37 (9 fewer than yesterday).
    • Available ICU Beds: 136 (1 fewer than yesterday)
    • Other Available Beds: 489 (88 fewer than yesterday).
    • Confirmed COVID-19 Patients Currently on Ventilators: 20 (same as yesterday)
    • Available Ventilators: 777 (8 more than yesterday).
  • Deaths: I’m sorry to report 7 additional COVID deaths today.  The total number of COVID deaths in Oregon is 2,737.
  • Vaccinations:
    • As of the end of yesterday, here are the latest numbers:
      • New Immunizations Reported Today: 17,452
        • 10,845 were conducted and reported yesterday
        • 6,607 were conducted earlier, but the reports were received yesterday (there can potentially be a three-day window for reporting)
        • The 7-day running average is now 15,803 doses per day.
  • Total First and Second Doses Administered So Far:4,254,343
    • 2,405,004 Pfizer doses
    • 1,688,255 Moderna doses
    • 159,090 Johnson & Johnson doses
  • Total Oregonians vaccinated so far: 2,335,586
    • 2,065,711 now fully vaccinated with two doses
  • The number of Oregonians who still need to get a first dose for Oregon to reach the 70% threshold is now 60,625 (down by 4,859). However, the CDC has still not fully fixed its reporting problems, so this number may actually be lower.  They say it’ll be fixed by tomorrow.
  • To date, 5,405,585 doses of vaccine have been delivered to sites across Oregon. (That’s 6,160 more than yesterday, for a total of 67,980 additional doses so far this week.)
    • 78.7% of these doses have been administered so far. The national average is now 83.4%.
    • 57.2% of Oregonians have received at least one dose (64.6% of those 16 and older, 68% of those 18+, which is the CDC standard).
    • 59.4% of Oregonians are now fully vaccinated (57.8% of those 16 and older).

Additional Brief Updates

 

Weekly COVID Data and Outbreak Reports Released:  Slight Increases

The Oregon Health Authority’s COVID-19 Weekly Report, released today, shows the first increases in daily cases, following six consecutive weeks of declining case numbers, and increases in hospitalizations from the previous week.

  • OHA reported 1,780 new daily cases of COVID-19 during the week of Monday, June 7, through Sunday, June 13. That represents a 3.2% growth from the previous week.
  • New COVID-19 related hospitalizations rose from 112 to 152.
  • There were 36 reported COVID-19 related deaths, up from 20 reported the previous week.
  • There were 70,779 tests for COVID-19 for the week of June 6 through June 12, a slight decline from the previous week’s 72,443.
  • The percentage of positive tests was 4% (a slight increase from the previous week’s 3.8%.

Today’s COVID-19 Weekly Outbreak Report shows 22 active COVID-19 outbreaks in senior living communities and congregate living settings

Oregon’s 2,738th COVID-19 death is a 33-year-old woman from Douglas County who tested positive on June 11 and died on June 11 at Salem Hospital.

Oregon’s 2,739th COVID-19 death is a 77-year-old woman from Lane County who tested positive on June 8 and died on June 13 at PeaceHealth Sacred Health Medical Center at Riverbend.

Oregon’s 2,740th COVID-19 death is a 56-year-old man from Lane County who tested positive on May 11 and died on June 15 at PeaceHealth Sacred Health Medical Center at Riverbend.

Oregon’s 2,741st COVID-19 death is a 51-year-old man from Lane County who tested positive on April 9 and died on June 14 at Oregon Health and Science University Hospital.

Oregon’s 2,742nd COVID-19 death is an 84-year-old man from Linn County who tested positive on June 2 and died on June 13 at his residence.

Oregon’s 2,743rd COVID-19 death is a 93-year-old woman from Multnomah County who tested positive on May 28 and died on June 12 at Legacy Mt Hood Medical Center.

Oregon’s 2,744th COVID-19 death is a 91-year-old man from Umatilla County who tested positive on June 10 and died on June 14 at his residence.
