Clackamas County to move to Lower Risk
Foreclosure moratorium extended, rental and landlord assistance available for July rent
Take Your Shot, Oregon website launches, veterans and others who received shots from federal or out-of-state sites can now make sure they are entered to win
(Salem, OR) — Governor Kate Brown announced today that Clackamas County will be moving to the Lower Risk level, effective as soon as they achieve a 65% first dose vaccination rate for adults. The county has also submitted an equity plan to the state. When county movements for this week were announced on June 8, the county was just short of reaching that 65% goal. The county made a concerted push to reach 65% since then.
“I want to highlight Clackamas County and their work,” said Governor Brown. “To reach this goal, Clackamas County’s public health nurses administered over 1,000 vaccines to homebound residents, and they’ve worked with all 10 school districts in the county to bring the vaccine directly to those schools for students and families. Incredible work.”

We are trained for interactions with individuals with autism. Autism affects 3 areas of brain development that include social interaction, communication and repetitive or restrictive patterns of behaviors.
Typical police procedures combined with characteristics of autism could cause misunderstandings that could result in a negative interaction. We receive training and learn proactive approaches to recognize behavior/signs of autism and respond accordingly with tolerance and patience to de-escalate and ensure the safety and cooperation of a person with autism.

LINN COUNTY SHERIFF:
Tips to Avoid Leaving Children in a Hot Car
|
ALBANY — With summer approaching and along with it hot weather, Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon would like to share some important reminders to help you avoid accidentally leaving a child in a hot car.
- Always check the back seat and make sure all children are out of the car before locking it and walking away.
- Avoid distractions while driving, especially cell phone use.
- Be extra alert when there is a change in your routine, like when someone else is driving your child somewhere, or you take a different route to work or childcare.
- Have your childcare provider call if your child is more than 10 minutes late.
- Put your cell phone, bag, or purse in the back seat, so you check the back seat when you arrive at your destination.
- If someone else is driving your child somewhere, always check to make sure they arrived safely.
- Keep your car locked when it is parked to prevent a curious child from entering when no one is around. Many hot car deaths have occurred when a child mistakenly locks himself inside.
Stay safe everyone.

FARMING EQUIPMENT:
Coming Soon to a Road Near You!
FROM OFB, ODOT, OSSA, and ODA:
Safety tips for drivers include:
- If you decide to pass farm equipment on the road, please do so with caution.
- Be watchful of vehicles behind you that may also try to pass.
- If you must enter the oncoming lane of traffic, do not proceed unless you can see clearly ahead of both your vehicle and the vehicle you will pass.
- If there are any curves or hills ahead that may block your view or the view of oncoming vehicles, do not pass.
- Do not pass if you are in a designated “No Passing Zone” or within 100 feet of any intersection, railroad grade crossing, bridge, elevation structure, or tunnel.
- Do not assume that a farm vehicle that pulls to the right side of the road is going to turn right or is letting you pass. Due to the size of some farm implements, the farmer must make wide left-hand turns. If you are unsure, check the operator’s hand signals and look at the left side of the road for gates, driveways, or a place the vehicle might turn.
Safety tips for farmers include:
- Oregon law requires a slow-moving vehicle reflector on any machine that travels the road slower than 25 mph. Always point the triangle up, keep the SMV emblem clean to maximize reflectivity, and replace the emblem when it fades, normally every two to three years.
- Mark the edges of tractors and machines with reflective tape and reflectors. Consider installing retrofit lighting to increase visibility.
- Turn on your lights but turn off rear spotlights when going onto the road. From a distance, spotlights can be mistaken for headlights.
- Be aware of heavy traffic patterns.
- Consider installing mirrors on equipment so you can see motorists around you. Be careful where the mirrors are placed.
- When moving multiple farm implements down the highway, leave enough space between each vehicle for cars to pass.

DOG PARK: Temporarily Closed
FROM ALBANY DOG PARK:
Our dog park will be closed from Wednesday, June 9 at 9am until Saturday, June 12 at 7am. We will be eliminating mediterranean barley which is problematic for dogs. The seed heads can burrow into skin and can cause eye and mouth issues. Mediterranean barley is commonly mistaken for medusaehead or foxtail but is not as hazardous. However, to ensure the health and safety of all dogs that visit the park it is best for us to eliminate it.

LINN COUNTY ROAD CONSTRUCTION
FROM ODOT:
Construction starting: Summer 2021 (exact date TBD)
As part of the All Roads Transportation Safety Project (ARTS) as identified by the Safety Priority Index System, improvements will occur in an area that has a higher than normal crash rate (in both frequency and severity).
The intersecting area of U.S. 20, OR 226, and Knox Butte Road has been identified as one of these critical areas.
In order to improve sight distance, as well as enhance intersection warning signs to reduce crashes and near-misses, this upcoming project will:
- Replace signs with higher visibility signage and add flashing beacons near road intersections.
- Install concrete islands.
- Restripe the roadway.
- The pavement will also be replaced on U.S. 20 between Knox Butte and OR 226.
- During construction you can expect delays and construction noise. Most of the work will be scheduled at nighttime and lane closures will be from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. We will maintain access to businesses and residences within the work zone during construction.
TripCheck will have more real-time info especially for the construction itself (i.e. if it’s running long on a certain day, if the construction is closing lanes): https://tripcheck.com/
Check my social media for updated info and be safe on our roads this Summer. All the road construction crews will THANK YOU!
CONGRATULATIONS CLASS OF 2021!
