Today I introduced three bills on the House Floor.
-
HB 3196 - Improves Oregon’s Election Integrity by banning the practice of Ballot Harvesting.
-
HB 3211 - Prevents discrimination by governments and businesses based on past medical history.
-
HB 3243 - Provides business relief by allowing businesses 50 years to pay off any COVID-19 related fines from state agencies.
These bills address three important issues Oregonians deeply care about: Ensuring our elections are indeed the express will of the people by ending the shady practice of ballot harvesting; Preventing one’s medical history from being used as a weapon of discrimination; Relief for businesses who have been unfairly targeted and fined when safely operating their business during the COVID-19 outbreak.
In addition to these bills, I have already introduced HB 3162 promoting tourism in Klamath County by designating May 22nd as Crater Lake National Park Day; HB 2473: a bill to help Sky Lakes Medical Center recruit and retain top medical talent, HB 2472: a bill to enhance Oregon Tech’s marketing efforts, and SB 19: a bill to assist Lake County with the transition of Warner Creek Correctional Facility.
In March, the Legislature will move from meeting on the House Floor once a week in-person to twice a week. To date the House has not voted on any bills on the Floor, as bills are still being introduced or heard in committees. However with two floor sessions per week that will soon change. All committee meetings continue to be virtual only, including for Legislators.
Note: The Capitol building still remains closed to the general public.
If you want to provide written testimony or testify live for a public hearing (via telephone or video), please read the following on How To Testify.
I, and my office staff, are here to serve you. If you are having difficulty with a state agency, concerned about a bill or have an idea for a bill, please reach out to our office.
Best regards,
