Wildfire Recovery Update

This week, I had the opportunity to hear more than four hours of public testimony from residents of Southern Oregon who were impacted by the Almeda, South Obenchain, 2-4-2, and Slater fires last September.

Expectedly, it was a very emotional hearing. It’s difficult to hear the ways that too many are still suffering more than five months after this tragedy. You can visit this committee and learn more here

This weeks public testimony and next week's public hearing is critical to informing the committee’s work the rest of the session. We need to hear directly from impacted communities to better understand the situation on the ground and pass policies that can help these communities as quickly as possible.

The next public hearing will take place on Monday, February 22 at 5:30 pm.

  • 5:30-6:30 pm: Canyon and Valley Regions (Beachie Creek, Lionshead, Holiday Farm, and Archie Creek Fires)
  • 6:30-7:30 pm: Metro Region (Riverside Fire, and any other fires in the Metro Region)
  • 7:30-8:30 pm: Coast Region (Echo Mountain Fire, and any other fires in the Coast Region)

You can go here to learn how to submit written testimony and how to sign up to give audio/video testimony to the committee
