Welcome! I am beyond honored to have been chosen to serve House District 9 on the beautiful Oregon Coast (representing parts of Coos, Douglas, Lane, and Lincoln Counties). Though this time in our lives is not what any of us expected, I am eager to start making real improvements for the Coast and the State of Oregon at-large.
Below, you will find information about how I am serving you in the Oregon Legislature, some bills I am working on, and current information about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and unemployment assistance.

Below are some of the bills I am working on this session. I will provide updates as more bills become finalized and available to the public.
HB3098 Directs Department of Veterans’ Affairs to create, maintain and raise public awareness of database of veterans’ services providers and other supports.
HB3099 Establishes Veterans Transportation Grant Program within Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Directs department to provide grants to entities to provide transportation to veterans so that veterans may access essential services.
HB3100 Increases number of beverage containers returned by any one person during one day that dealer that occupies a space of 5,000 or more square feet must accept and pay refund value for.
HB3114 Appropriates moneys from General Fund to Oregon Ocean Science Trust, State Department of Fish and Wildlife and Higher Education Coordinating Commission in certain amounts for certain purposes related to ocean chemistry. Declares emergency, effective July 1, 2021.
HB2230 Makes permanent school district funding for foreign exchange students and small school district grants.

Vaccine Advisory Committee Makes Final Recommendations – Last week, Oregon’s 27-member COVID-19 Vaccine Advisory Committee (VAC) met for its fourth and final official meeting. They recommended four groups move forward concurrently once Oregon has vaccinated a critical mass of seniors. Those groups would be:
- Adults 16-64 with underlying health conditions
- Front-line workers (to be defined)
- Adults and youth in custody 16 years and older
- People living in low income and congregate senior housing
People who live in multi-generational households would be next in line behind these groups, followed by the general population.
As a next step, OHA staff will review the operational and legal dimensions of the recommendations before they are referred to Governor Kate Brown. The committee has an optional meeting on Feb. 2 to discuss implementation issues.
The Oregon Unemployment Department has the following Continued Assistance Act updates:
Since the Continued Assistance Act (CCA) went into effect three weeks ago, the department has been implementing program changes and extensions as fast as possible. They began paying benefits that week to some Oregonians who had several weeks of benefits remaining on their Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) and Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC) claims.
The department began paying PEUC benefits earlier last week and most Oregonians waiting for their PEUC benefits should now have those benefits in-hand.
Anyone expecting to receive PEUC benefits who does NOT see a balance on their claim should reach out to the department by sending a message through their Contact Us form.
Those who file under PEUC should see their weekly benefits resume.
The department hopes to begin issuing the rest of PUA payments by February 5th. As with PEUC, it is possible that they will be ahead of schedule.
- All benefits will be paid retroactively, so again, make sure to continue to file weekly claims.
- PUA claimants will also receive the additional $300 weekly FPUC benefit.
