Happy New Year, and welcome to 2021! Today, the Oregon Legislature is meeting to officially swear-in the newly elected members on both the House and Senate, and First Read pre-session filed legislation. Currently, there about 1,000 bills in the House Chamber and around 800 bills in the Senate Chamber. Typically, the Governor also gives a speech, but that is now to be delivered virtually at a later date. Next Tuesday, the legislature will officially begin the 81st Legislative Session, which is when committees will formerly meet to discuss any bills that have been referred to any given committee. HB 2644 and HJM 2 - Recognizes Atomic Veterans and urges Congress to also do so.

HB 2646 - Regulates Kratom.

HB 2647 - Pregnant women's assistance fund.

HB 2648 - Allows for behind the counter sales of Sudafed products.

HB 2649 - Veterans tax credit.

HB 2650 - K9 transportation.

HB 2651 - Modifies "motor voter" law.

HJR 6 - Modifies emergency clause usage.

HJR 8 - Requires the K-12 education budget is first to be passed each session.
