A conversation: Director Fariborz Pakseresht
Director Pakseresht will provide KXCR 90.7 audience with a COVID-19 update for the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) relating to long term care testing and Aging and People with Disabilities (APD). He will also discuss ODHS collaboration with the Oregon Health Authority to develop a comprehensive website to help navigate the various health and human services available for community members. The new Health and Human Services Resources web pageincludes both community-specific resources (aging and people with disabilities, for example) and need-specific resources (like housing and food assistance).
Director Pakseresht has a long history of service to Oregon. He came to DHS from the Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) where he was responsible for the state's juvenile corrections agency. During his time at OYA, he was honored with the Outstanding Administrator Award from the Council of Juvenile Corrections Administrators for his leadership and contributions in the field of juvenile justice. Earlier in his career, he served eight years with DHS in a variety of leadership roles. He also spent 11 years with the Department of Administrative Services.

Wildfire Updates from North Lincoln County and Idanha-Detroit Rural Fire Protection Districts
In 2017 legislative sessions, a bill to create a “Task Force on Rural Fire Protection District Community Development” failed. SB 531 woud have established a task force to study and develop recommendations on ways to enhance, or expand the ability of rural fire protection districts to use their assets to facilitate community development efforts following a natural disaster. Join Sen. Roblan as he discusses recent challenges to rural fire districts, what our fire chiefs need to keep their communities safe and the re-introduction of SB 531.

Though California seems to be maintaining progress against COVID-19.
