Earlier today, I was elected by my caucus to be the new Senate Majority Leader. Senator Ginny Burdick stepped down from the position earlier this week.

The situation is evolving quickly as legislators, the Governor's Office, and other stakeholders evaluate programs, budget reserves, and the potential for additional aid from the federal government directed toward state and local governments. On Tuesday, June 2, the Senate Interim Committee on Education will meet at 12:00pm to discuss the impact of the coronavirus and the revenue forecast on K-12 and higher education in the state, as well as how institutions have transitioned to distance learning.

Clackamas County Updates
Earlier this week, Clackamas County submitted its reopening application. Governor Kate Brown announced today that Clackamas County can begin entering Phase I of reopening on Saturday, May 23.
Multnomah County Updates
Multnomah County hasn't submitted a reopening application yet. You can follow the county's progess at their reopening website.
Washington County Updates
Washington County submitted their application to the state for reopening today, with the goal of entering Phase I on June 1. View Washington County's status on the Reopening Criteria.
