Friends and Neighbors,
Governor's New Executive Order
On Wednesday, April 1, Governor Kate Brown released a new Executive Order 20-13, placing a 90-day moratorium on commercial evictions for nonpayment, in light of the impacts on business owners caused by the COVID-19 crisis. The order also strengthens Governor Brown's previous ban on residential evictions, and prohibits landlords from charging tenants late fees for nonpayment of rent during the moratorium.

Census Day 2020 – Get Counted While Staying Home
Every 10 years, the US Census Bureau undertakes a mammoth task: counting all the people residing in the United States. This count affects the allocation of funding for our community’s public resources (e.g., roads, hospitals, schools), how we plan for the future, and our voice in government. It only takes a few minutes by mail, phone or online. http://my2020census.gov
Filling out the Census means Oregon can receive the resources, funding and representation our state deserves. It can feel like a lot of questions, and the Census Bureau has useful information on why they ask those questions and their legal requirement to keep your information confidential, no matter what.
We Count Oregon is our state’s effort to ensure Oregon has an accurate count. Please share this information with others you know.

Making A Difference
- Quatama Elementary 4th Grade Teacher, Mrs. Shannon Jones, is leading a campaign with students to spread a little kindness to senior residents of a local apartment complex in Orenco. Students can write letters, draw pictures, write poetry, or songs. They will be collected and delivered to the manager of the complex. This gesture will surely brighten their day and bring a little piece of happiness from outside into their community, especially because many of them are not able to leave their home at this time. Thank you Quatama Coyotes!
- Local company, Reser's Fine Foods has generously donated sliced mango cups to the Hillsboro Meals on Wheels center for distribution with senior meals.
- Washington County and the City of Hillsboro will open a temporary homeless shelter near the Hillsboro Airport. The city plans to convert the 114-room Comfort Inn & Suites, 3500 N.E. Cornell Road, into a temporary space for people experiencing homelessness. Read more about it here.
- This afternoon, the first responders of HIllsboro Fire & Rescue, HIllsboro Police Dept, and Metro West Ambulance expressed their gratitude to the health care heroes at Tuality OHSU and Kaiser Permanente with a parade of lights and vehicles for the heroes in our Emergency Rooms and hospitals.
- North Plains resident and North Plains Elementary PTO Treasurer, Kristina Marie Stone, has been busy making masks for friends and family members. After she fulfilled their requests, she got busy and made more for neighbors in need.
Notice someone in House District 30 making a difference during this crisis? Please send us an email and let us know. We would love to spread the word and show the kindness that is happening all around us.
