Greetings:
New projections show that the state is at a critical moment in the fight against COVID-19. To alter the trajectory of new infections, it is crucial that every one of us does our part to give Oregon’s health care system the chance to ramp up to meet an overwhelming surge on its system.
FUNDING FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
The United States Senate unanimously passed a $2 trillion dollar emergency aid package to help Americans recover from the economic impacts of the novel coronavirus. This includes:
- $1,200 per adult and $500 per child for most Americans
- $350 billion in fully forgivable loans to small businesses
- $150 billion to support healthcare system needs
- Expansion of unemployment benefits to gig workers, self-employed workers, and contractors
Soon, Oregon families and businesses will have additional support and resources they need. The National Council of State Legislators has helpful information on what’s included here. The Washington Post has a calculator available to help you calculate your coronavirus stimulus check.
