House District 19 News

Representative Raquel Moore-Green

Hello Friends,

Welcome to the first issue of “House District 19 News” official legislative e-newsletter. Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Raquel Moore-Green and I was appointed to this position as it was left open, when then Representative Boles was sworn in as Senator, after the passing of Senator Jackie Winters.

My husband James and I have lived in Salem for the last 24 years, and raised two of our 3 children here. We have 10 grandchildren and are fortunate to have 2 of them living locally.

I am honored to be your state representative and look forward to hearing from you and learning about your concerns, your hopes, and your desires for healthy and productive communities.

Since being sworn in on July 25th I have listened to elected officials, business organizations, public safety leaders, school officials, and numerous individuals. It would be helpful to hear from you. Please take a moment to complete this quick online survey (see below for questions). Results will be shared in the next issue of HD19 News.

If you’d like to share in person I will be hosting some listening sessions in October - the 10th, and 17th in Turner and the 14th and 28th in Aumsville. Once details are finalized you will find them on my legislative website at: https://www.oregonlegislature.gov/moore-green   Dates for the Salem sessions will be announced.

Next week will be the first set of Legislative Days, September 16, 17, and 18. My committee assignments are:

  • House Judiciary Committee,
  • House Health Care Committee, and
  • House Health Care Sub-committee on Behavioral Health

It’s a privilege to have been assigned to these committees and I hope that some of the work I have done over the last several years will help my understanding, and bring value added to the discussions that will take place. Working and volunteering in the business, non-profit, faith, political, and municipal communities has provided me unique opportunities to see these communities come together to effectively address some of the more pressing local issues – housing, homelessness, public safety, and education.

I look forward to hearing from you, and hopefully meeting many of you over the coming months. My door is always open, and my staff, Pam McClain, and I welcome your participation.
