Ending Soon

Dear Neighbors,

The end of the legislative session is fast approaching, with some of our toughest decisions coming over the next few days. Thank you for your continued interest in our community and our state - your input has been invaluable.

This week, the Oregon House of Representatives passed our state's education budget. Unfortunately, it does not go nearly far enough and will likely mean staff and program cuts to schools in Oregon City, Gladstone, and North Clackamas. That is why I ultimately voted no on this budget. You can check out a video of my reaction HERE.

I have a couple events coming up: On Saturday July 1st at 9:00 AM I will be hosting a constituent coffee at First City Central Marketplace & Bistro (1757 Washington Street); and on Thursday July 13th at 6:30 PM I will be holding an end-of-session town hall at Oregon City Public Library (606 John Adams Street). I hope you can make it to one!

Yours truly,

Capitol Update

Earlier this month, my son Jacob joined me on the House floor to perform "O Sole Mio" for the day's opening ceremonies. Catch our full performance HERE.

Recently I carried Senate Bill 81 on the floor, which directs the Oregon Department of Veterans' Affairs to provide statewide expertise, advocacy, coordination, and assistance to veterans in obtaining healthcare. The bill passed unanimously and now awaits Governor Brown's signature - how fitting that we voted on it on Flag Day.
