You're Invited!

Mark W. Meek

You're Invited June 8th & 12th!

Dear Neighbors,

A couple weeks ago I wrote to you about the Oregon Education Investment Initiative - a bold proposal that would reform Oregon's business taxes and make meaningful investments in our schools.

It is important for me to hear your thoughts and priorities as the conversation around education funding continues. That's why I am participating in two town halls - and I want to make sure you're invited. Details are below:

School Funding Town Hall with North Clackamas Legislators

Thursday, June 8th
7:00 PM
Clackamas Community College - McLoughlin Auditorium

Education Town Hall with Rep. Mark Meek

Monday, June 12th
7:00 PM
Oregon City Public Library

I hope you can make it to one! If not, you are always welcome to write to me directly at Rep.MarkMeek@oregonlegislature.gov or give my office a call at (503) 986-1440.

Yours truly,

Around the Capitol

Had a great lunch visit with Ms. Odell's 8th grade social studies class from Christ the King Catholic School in Milwaukie. They were at the capitol to participate in "We the People Day", where they learned about the legislative process and participated in mock hearings. A very smart group!

Congressman Kurt Schrader was in the capitol a couple weeks ago. We spent a lot of time discussing both local and national issues, including healthcare and the importance of protecting the ACA's Medicaid expansion that has covered hundreds of thousands of Oregonians. Proud of the work he is doing and always grateful for his insights.

Northwest Family Services provides prevention and early intervention programs for Oregon's highest-risk youth. Last week they visited my office to discuss the importance of protecting programs like PreventNet, which operates in middle and high schools throughout our community.

In the Community

U.S. Senators Ron Wyden and Jeff Merkley held town halls in Gladstone and Clackamas this past week. My colleague, Rep. Janelle Bynum, and I had the opportunity to attend both. We heard about a lot of concerns with what's happening in Washington DC - especially around healthcare.
